Registration is now closed.

*Completion of an online registration form does not guarantee placement on a team.  Teams will be filled primarily on a first-come basis, with consideration given to factors such as active parishioner status and willingness to volunteer as a coach or site manager.  As always, we do our best to place every child on a team, but we do have limited space.  The number of teams at each level will depend on overall interest.

Payment will not be collected online at this time.  Checks or cash will be collected at a future date – either at an evaluation night or when uniforms are handed out.

After October 4, registered players will receive an update on what the team numbers look like and if an evaluation night will be needed for your grade level.

Registration fees:

Grades 3-6 (boys and girls) - $125/player
Grades 7-8 (boys) - $150/player
Grades 9-12 (boys) - $175/player
(Family max = $300)

When are practices?

Practices generally begin the first week of November.  Each team is scheduled to practice once a week for about an hour.  Some teams choose to share practices once in a while to get in an extra practice or if the gym is not available during the usual time that week.  We thank you in advance for your understanding that this is a busy place and the gym gets used for many activities, which may change the practice schedule.  We ask that all parents, regardless of the age of your player, come to the gym door when dropping off and picking up – we need to make sure everyone is safe and goes home with the right person.

 When are games?

Games will begin the first weekend in December.  Teams will play their first few games and then be re-evaluated to see if anyone needs to change divisions.  The rest of the schedule will be distributed after those games.  The regular season goes through February 23.  Tournaments may be at any time, but are often held over the holidays.  Participation in tournaments in up to each individual team.  Tournament fees are not included in the registration fee, so your coach will collect an additional amount required to participate in a tournament.

 What is expected of parents?

We rely on volunteers to coach, keep score, run the clock, take admissions, run concessions, set up, clean up, and keep things running smoothly throughout the season.  Safety is one of our main priorities, so several of these volunteer positions require completion of Creating a Safe Environment (CASE) training.  A relatively new volunteer position called site manager includes greeting guests, making sure supplies are available, and filling in where needed or between games.  Detailed information is provided. This is very valuable role to all participants, so please consider taking a shift or two at this position.  If you have any experience with refereeing, we could use some standby refs, in case there is a scheduling issue for any of our games.

How many teams will there be?  Will my child make it on a team?

We only have space for a limited number of teams at St. Rita, but we do our best to accommodate interested players and find everyone a space on a team.  Our policy here is that your child may not play for both St. Rita and another basketball team or another sport that is going to interfere with his or her commitment to this team.  Your child is expected to attend at least 90% of practices and games.  (If you have other commitments, please note this on the registration form so we can adjust team sizes accordingly, when possible.)  Our teams are generally based on a first-come, first-served principle, with registration opening to returning players and parishioners first.  Evaluation sessions may be held to assess players abilities and balance the teams; these are not tryouts – placement on a team is not dependent on ability.
