The Nativity of the Lord (Christmas)

In the hope that you will enter more fully into the Mass
Merry Christmas from Saint Rita Church and School. We wish for you this Christmas season all the blessings of the Messiah, promised of old and brought to life on this Christmas night so long ago. May the miracle of Christmas be born anew in our hearts this day and every day as we live out our calling as Baptized Catholic Christians - Priests, Prophets and Kings..
Our Christmas scripture readings differ depending on what time the Mass is celebrated.  There are actually three sets of readings: Vigil Mass (Christmas Eve afternoon 3:00 and 5:00 PM), Christmas at Night (10:00 PM Mass Christmas Eve) and Mass during the Day (9:00 and 10:30 AM Christmas Day).
You are encouraged to review the readings before attending Mass and reflect on their message both for the time and audience for which they were written and also for the specific meaning the Holy Spirit might be speaking to you as you read and pray on them. Then, when you participate in the Mass, you will find a new meaning and a new way of hearing the readings. You will now be participating in the readings and entering into them instead of just listening to them. And while you are at it, here's a fun exercise - try to guess what the homily will be about and see how close you are.
